Well just got back from Hospital again (excessive water in lungs) If you could .. please consider a donation. Thanks to all that contributed .. every little bit helps. |
Type the following command in terminal to unhide the file, and then repeat Step 1. Open the hosts file using a text editor such as Text Edit. Check for any Adobe-related entries in the hosts file. If there are no Adobe-related entries in the hosts file, no further troubleshooting is required. Block adobe activation Steve Stonebraker posted this in Howto, Mac, Windows on March 12th, 2011 To block adobe from phoning home you need to modify your hosts file: on a mac. Block Adobe Photoshop CC activation outbound link using windows host file or firewall is a common question for everyone. You can prevent the application from calling-home by manipulating the system's Hosts file. After we update the host file, when the application will try to contact the activation server it will be redirected to the loop-back address 127.0.0.1 and therefore will be blocked. Steps to Block a Program or Windows Application SoftwareFor This, iam using adobe after effects / photoshop, these steps applied to any windows application.
What it does ..
You can use a modified HOSTS file to block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most hijackers and possibly unwanted programs. This is accomplished by blocking the connection(s) that supplies these little gems. The Hosts file is loaded into memory (cache) at startup, so there is no need to turn on, adjust or change any settings with the exception of the DNS Client service (see below). Windows automatically looks for the existence of a HOSTS file and if found, checks the HOSTS file first for entries to the web page you just requested. The 0.0.0.0 (prefix) is considered the location of your computer, so when an entry listed in the MVPS HOSTS file is requested on a page you are viewing, your computer thinks 0.0.0.0 is the location of the file. When this file is not located it skips onto the next file and thus the ad server is blocked from loading the banner, Cookie, or some unscrupulous tracker, or javascript file.
Example - the following entry 0.0.0.0 ad.doubleclick.net blocks all files supplied by that DoubleClick Server to the web page you are viewing. This also prevents the server from tracking your movements. Why? .. because in certain cases 'Ad Servers' like Doubleclick (and many others) will try silently to open a separate connection on the webpage you are viewing, record your movements then yes .. follow you to additional sites you may visit.
Using a well designed HOSTS file can speed the loading of web pages by not having to wait for these ads, annoying banners, hit counters, etc. to load. This also helps to protect your Privacy and Security by blocking sites that may track your viewing habits, also known as 'click-thru tracking' or Data Miners. Simply using a HOSTS file is not a cure-all against all the dangers on the Internet, but it does provide another very effective 'Layer of Protection'.
In case you're wondering .. this all happens in microseconds, which is much faster than trying to fetch a file from half way around the world. Another great feature of the HOSTS file is that it is a two-way file, meaning if some parasite does get into your system (usually bundled with other products) the culprit can not get out (call home) as long as the necessary entries exist. This is why it's important to keep your HOSTS file up to Date. Get notified of MVPS HOSTS updates.
Special Note: new Windows 10 users .. the MVPS Hosts file installs just fine, no need to make any changes.
Simply follow the instructions for Windows 10/8

But yesterday one of my friend told me about hosts file issue, when he got some problem while editing hosts file which is necessary to do for using Adobe CS5 for free. So i thought to start a new article about that and lets explain each and everything about hosts file editing…
- If you use the serial without hosts file, It will not work permanent and gives you error again and again… Remember Serials may be different but hosts file editing is same required for one time only so make it now and use all adobe cs5 products for free…
- First of all make sure you installed your Adobe’s product perfectly with its working serial number. Check latest comments on our post: Adobe CS5 Serial for Adobe Photoshop.
- This hosts file editing method is for WINDOWS 7 only, XP and other windows has different path for hosts file.
- Under windows 7 go to this path “C:WindowsSystem32driversetc” there you can see some files. We just need to work with hosts file. First we will copy this file and paste to somewhere else as a backup so if anything goes wrong we can replace that with our edited one.
- Now click on your start button search for Notepad, right-click and select Run as Administrator. This should launch notepad with all possible privileges. Now open the hosts file from the directory path: “C:WindowsSystem32driversetc” if no file displayed, you have to display All Files by typing (*) in the box. It will show you all files of this directory. Now you can open hosts file from there.
- (remember the above path wont show any file if you try it without star number: (*) You have to use it to see the All Files)
- Now the file is front of you check the last line which is “# ::1 localhost” and paste the below lines right after it.
- 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
- 127.0.0.1 ereg.wip3.adobe.com
- 127.0.0.1 activate-sjc0.adobe.com
- 127.0.0.1 3dns-3.adobe.com
- 127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-2.adobe.com
- 127.0.0.1 hh-software.com
